International Pharmaceutical Forum in July in Lomé
Lomé, the Togolese capital, is preparing to host the 23rd International Pharmaceutical Forum (IPF) from July 3 to 6, 2024. Launched late last week, this major event will bring together nearly 1,500 participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, and America to discuss the challenges, issues, and prospects related to access to care in the pharmaceutical sector.
The central theme of this edition, "Access to Healthcare: Challenges, Issues, and Prospects for the Pharmaceutical Sector," reflects the urgency and importance of ensuring universal access to quality healthcare services and effective, affordable medicines. The objective is to strengthen the capacities of African pharmacists so they can meet the needs of their populations.
The program includes roundtable discussions, thematic conferences, symposia, B2B meetings, continuing education sessions, exhibitions, and recreational outings. These various activities will provide platforms for exchange and training for professionals in the pharmaceutical sector.
"The purpose of the FPI is to formulate broad recommendations so that each country can share its experience in Lomé with regard to universal access to health care. And I am sure that we will come away from this forum with strong recommendations that each country will implement, so that our populations can benefit from the best care," said Sandouidi Alfred, Permanent Secretary of the FPI.
This meeting comes as the Togolese government is stepping up efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The government's initiatives aim to improve access to health services for all Togolese citizens, particularly the most vulnerable.
The 23rd International Pharmaceutical Forum promises to be a key event for the healthcare sector in Africa and beyond. The resulting recommendations could play a crucial role in improving access to healthcare across the continent. By bringing together experts and professionals from diverse backgrounds, the IPF aims to create a network of collaboration and innovation to address global health challenges.
Preparations are in full swing in Lomé to host this prestigious event. Participants are eager to share their experiences and learn from global best practices in access to healthcare. The Forum promises to be a dynamic platform for constructive exchanges and innovative solutions in the pharmaceutical sector.
