OIDP Africa launches a call for applications for the Presidency and organization of FIDEPA 2026

The International Observatory for Participatory Democracy in Africa (OIDP Africa) invites African cities, local authorities and institutions to submit their applications to assume the Presidency of the Observatory and organize the next edition of the International Forum for Participatory Democracy in Africa (FIDEPA) in 2026.  

What is FIDEPA? 

FIDEPA is the leading event dedicated to participatory democracy on the continent. It brings together local elected officials, government representatives, civil society actors, academics, and decentralization experts for conferences, discussions, and networking sessions.  

Who can apply?  

Any city, local authority, or association of local authorities that is a member of OIDP Africa, as well as ministries and technical departments involved in local governance, may apply. Interested institutions must demonstrate their ability to organize an international event and promote the principles of participatory democracy.  

How to apply?  

Files must include:  

1. An official letter of application signed by the competent authority.  

2. An outline of the proposed content for the Forum (2 pages max).  

3. An overview of the technical and financial resources that can be mobilized (2 pages max).
