Launch of the “Nana Tech” program in Togo: strengthening women entrepreneurs in the digital sector

To promote female entrepreneurship and technological innovation, the Togo Digital Agency (ATD), represented by its director Kafui Ekouhoho on behalf of the Minister of the Digital Economy, launched the ambitious "Nana Tech" program last week. This innovative project aims to strengthen the capacities of women entrepreneurs in the field of new information and communication technologies (NICT).

Inspired by the historic success of the "Nana Benz," who dominated the pagne trade in Togo in the 1970s and 1980s, Nana Tech aims to propel Togolese women into digital leadership. According to Kafui Ekouhoho of ATD, "Nana Tech is a concept integrated into the government's vision to identify and promote female talent in the ICT sector."

The program is supported by the Millennium Challenge Account Implementation Organization in Togo (OMCA-Togo), as part of its commitment to promoting information and communication technologies. Jeanne Ngname Bougonou, Director of OMCA, expressed her satisfaction: "OMCA-Togo is honored to collaborate with the digital sector in Togo to accelerate the profound reforms undertaken this year."

Program Components

“Nana Tech” is deployed through five strategic sub-programs:

  • Nana Tech Entrepreneures: 6-month incubation program for women entrepreneurs.
  • Nana Tech Immersion: 6-day training workshop on business management.
  • Nana Tech Ecosystem: Round tables organized in major cities to gather the opinions of stakeholders in the female entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Nana Tech Lab: Online training to strengthen digital skills.
  • Nana Tech Talents: Program aimed at developing entrepreneurship among young people and promoting digital skills.

The launch of Nana Tech comes at a strategic time when the Togolese government is actively pursuing the digitalization of public services. The goal is to make at least 75% of administrative procedures available online by 2025, in order to facilitate access to services and stimulate the national digital economy.

Nana Tech represents a significant step towards the economic empowerment of Togolese women through digital innovation. By strengthening their ICT skills and supporting their entrepreneurship, the program aims to create an environment conducive to inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Togo.

Interested parties are encouraged to follow the developments of Nana Tech and to actively participate in the various initiatives to contribute to the evolution of the female entrepreneurial landscape in the digital field.
