Flu in Togo: Vigilance Required
Tests conducted at the National Institute of Hygiene have revealed the presence of influenza viruses, leading to an increase in human flu cases in several locations across the country. The Ministry of Health clarified that no positive cases of COVID-19 have been detected, emphasizing that this is a seasonal spread of common influenza viruses.
Faced with this worrying situation, the Ministry of Health is calling on the public to remain vigilant. It recommends the adoption of barrier measures to limit the transmission of the virus, including:
- Regular hand washing
- Wearing a mask if you have symptoms
- Respect for physical distancing in public places
The ministry emphasizes the importance of consulting a health professional quickly as soon as the first signs of the disease appear.
To deal with this resurgence, enhanced coordination has been put in place with health establishments to ensure the effective management of flu cases.
It's important to remember that influenza is a highly contagious acute respiratory infection caused by different types of viruses. It is transmitted through droplets emitted when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, as well as through direct or indirect contact with contaminated surfaces. The most common symptoms include:
- Fever
- Chills
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Muscle pain
- Runny nose
