Education: Government meets again with teachers' unions
A new working session brought together the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education and education sector unions in Lomé on Tuesday. The meeting was a continuation of discussions that began several weeks ago.
Three key points on the agenda: the resumption of classes and educational activities, the situation of volunteer teachers and the recent granting of compensation to preschool and primary school principals.
Other topics were also discussed, including the construction of housing for teachers working in remote areas, remoteness bonuses, and exceptional compensation.
The last point, validated during the signing of the memorandum of understanding last month , should also be effective from the end of April.
“ We would like to appeal to all teachers to give us this credit of confidence and to know that discussions are continuing so that calm can return to the field ,” urged FESET coordinator and union spokesperson Koffi Kanitom after the discussions.
On Tuesday, four new teachers were made available to the public administration by the Minister of Labor, Gilbert Bawara.
