DHL launches Sub-Saharan Africa Exporter of the Year Awards

DHL ( www.DHL.com ) is proud to announce the launch of the DHL Exporters of the Year Awards in Sub-Saharan Africa, an initiative to celebrate the excellence and innovation of export companies in the region. These awards highlight the vital role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the expansion of regional economies and economic development.

The DHL Exporters of the Year Awards are part of GoTrade , which aims to support SMEs by providing access to training, financing, logistics, and information and communications technology (ICT). Hennie Heymans, CEO of DHL Express for Sub-Saharan Africa, said: " We know that SMEs are the backbone of societies and the driving force behind sustainable economic growth ."

The awards are open to SMEs officially registered in sub-Saharan African countries. Eligible companies must:

• Employ a maximum of 25 full-time staff.
• Have been engaged in the export of goods for at least 12 months.
• Operate sustainably and comply with international trade regulations.

The DHL Exporters of the Year Awards include three distinct categories:

1. Exporter and ESG Excellence Award : Honors exporters committed to sustainable environmental practices and ethical governance.
2. Exporters of the Year Award : Recognizes female exporters who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in global markets.
3. Exporter and Global Expansion Award : Celebrates SMEs that have generated significant growth through their participation in international trade.

The winners will receive a prize of €4,000 per category at a special ceremony at the DHL Innovation Center in Dubai . The event will also be an opportunity to network and exchange ideas with DHL experts and global partners.

"The DHL Exporters of the Year Awards are our way of highlighting the important role SMEs play in international trade. As SMEs grow, economies grow and people's lives improve," added Heymans.
