AMD trains schoolchildren to become climate ambassadors
The Mains du Développement (AMD) Association, with financial support from Earth Guardians, has launched an environmental education project at the Akpadeyi-Condji Public Primary School (EPP), located in the Lacs 2 commune. This initiative aims to raise students' awareness of environmental issues and transform them into committed actors for the protection of their environment. The project, structured in five phases, began in November 2024 and continues until January 2025.

On November 27, 2024, the AMD coordinator, Ms. Tem NABROULABA met with the teachers of the EPP Akpadeyi-Condji to present the project to them and raise their awareness of their supporting role in the implementation of the activities.
A club composed of 15 students from CM1 and CM2 classes was created to promote the fight against climate change and youth engagement. Led by Ms. SOMABE Adjovi and Ms. VESSOUH Patricia, this activity also included training for the students on their responsibilities as ambassadors, as well as a presentation on the actions they can take to protect their environment.

A nursery entrepreneur trained the students in how to make seedbeds by reusing plastic water bags. After a theoretical session on seed germination and the necessary equipment, the students participated in practical workshops, where they learned how to handle seeds and maintain the seedbeds. Each student left with a seedling to grow at home.
The students learned how to beautify their environment through concrete actions. They recycled plastic bottles to create borders and planted 15 flowers in the schoolyard. In addition, 35 eucalyptus and Zangéra plants were replanted around the sports field.
To ensure the sustainability of the activities, the club received equipment such as a wheelbarrow, two hoes, two watering cans, a rake, and brooms. Project monitoring, scheduled to continue until January 2025, will allow for the assessment of the impacts of the activities carried out and support club members in their future initiatives.
Through this project, AMD aims to make EPP students climate ambassadors, capable of acting for a more sustainable future while improving their living environment.
