AMD trains 50 women in digital marketing and e-commerce to promote eco-friendly products
On November 22, 2023, a group of 50 women and girls from Agomé Glozou, Togo, participated in a training session on digitalization and e-commerce. This training aimed to strengthen these women's digital marketing skills and teach them how to use digital media and channels to promote their products. This activity was led by the Main de Développement Association (AMD) with financial support from the XOESE Foundation.
These women are part of two groups of 25 people each, made up of young girls, single mothers, women heads of households, widows, and women with disabilities who have been affected by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The training covered the following modules: the usefulness/benefits of social media in promoting women's activities, practical and preventive advice to observe on social media, managing your prospect and client portfolio, and the professional use of WhatsApp.
The first group produces biochar and bio-coal from rice husks, a waste product after husking, which represents an environmental problem in the region. The second group deals with bio-packaging.
Thanks to this training, these women are now able to promote their products through social media and engage in e-commerce to increase their sales. This initiative also helps reduce the use of charcoal in the region, which has negative repercussions on the health of the girls and women who use it, as well as on the environment.
This training is part of an ecological and solidarity approach to encourage local production and waste reduction while offering economic opportunities to women in the region.
