Agroecology for healthy and sustainable food
The Action Center for Rural Development (CADR), in collaboration with the Alliance for Nutrition in Togo (ANT), is organizing a training and exchange workshop between member associations and NGOs of the alliance. This activity took place from December 11 to 13, 2023, at Tokoin Césal in Lomé. The objective of this workshop is to improve the nutritional quality of food through the adoption of agroecology in a context of climate change in Togo.
The use of synthetic chemicals in current agriculture poses dangers to producers and consumers, as well as environmental degradation. To address this, agroecological practices and biofertilizers have been presented as safe alternatives for the well-being of both the environment and humans.
Participants shared their experiences on the bio-inputs they commonly use. The practical training enabled participants to make biofertilizers such as Bokashi, liquid and solid Super Magro, as well as bioprotectants such as Apichi, ash broth, and neem leaf broth, among others.
This workshop provided participants with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt sustainable agricultural practices and improve the nutritional quality of the food produced. The partners of this initiative, including the global SUN movement and the NGO SAVE THE CHILDREN, were thanked for their multifaceted support.
This workshop was a success in promoting agroecology and improving the nutritional quality of food produced in Togo. The representative of the SUN Togo focal point declared the workshop open and thanked the generous partners for their support.
