Weather forecast: normal to excessive rainfall in northern Togo
According to the National Meteorological Agency (ANAMET), normal to excessive rainfall is expected in the northern regions of the country. The rainy season will begin earlier, except in the far north where a slight delay is expected.
Between June and August, the Savannahs are expected to receive normal to above-normal rainfall, while the Kara and Central regions will experience above-normal rainfall. From July to September, the northern region will experience above-normal rainfall.
ANAMET reports possible overflows of the Oti River and normal to deficient flow for the Mono River. Dry spells are also expected at the beginning and end of the season.
For farmers, ANAMET recommends using improved crop varieties and choosing sites that are safe from flooding. Efficient water resource management is essential for irrigation and electricity.
"Regularly monitor weather reports to better adapt to climate changes," stressed ANAMET Director General Latifou Issaou.
