Training on innovative agricultural technologies for the horticulture sector in Togo
As part of the Promotion of Horticultural Sectors in Togo (PROFIT) Project, funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), a training session on innovative agricultural technologies took place on June 25 and 26. This initiative, initiated by the Togolese Ministry of Agriculture, aimed to strengthen the capacities of stakeholders in the horticultural sector to face the challenges of climate change.
The session brought together NGO representatives, experts from ITRA and ICAT, and officials from the Environment Directorate. The main objective was to identify and adopt suitable technologies to improve the production of crops such as okra, chili peppers, and cassava, while making them more resilient to climate impacts.
Boabekoa Guidan, Deputy Director of PROFIT, encouraged participants to propose concrete solutions to sustainably support the production, processing and marketing of horticultural products in Togo until September 2028.
The PROFIT project, led by Lutheran World Relief (LWR) in collaboration with its partners (GRED, ODIAE, RAFIA, OADEL and CRS), marks a significant step forward in adapting Togolese agricultural practices to climate realities, thus promoting sustainability and food security in the country.
