Togo: the 2nd edition of MIATO will take place from October 29 to November 7, 2021

After a successful inaugural experience, the Togo International Handicrafts Market (MIATO) is back. The second edition will be held from October 29 to November 7 under the theme “Craft Enterprises and Competitiveness,” announced the minister responsible for the sector, Kokou Eke Hodin.

As in 2019, the biennial event, which mobilized a dozen countries, will take place on the esplanade of the Palais des Congrès in Lomé.

The Miato, an important framework for the promotion and enhancement of Togolese cultural heritage, aims to highlight the genius and potential of local artisans, promote artisanal products and enhance the promising professions in this sector.

The first edition saw the participation of 160 exhibitors and more than 150,000 visitors, and served as a framework for workshops, conferences, meetings, networking and exhibitions.

In Togo, crafts contribute 18% to GDP and help reduce the balance of payments deficit by 20%. Since 2011, the government has invested more than 10 billion CFA francs in the sector and supported nearly 15,000 projects.
