Togo: Border security strengthened thanks to an IOM donation

Togo is stepping up its efforts to strengthen border security. Late last week, Security Minister Calixte Madjoulba received a large batch of equipment intended to improve the management of the Pogno and Tamong border posts, located in the Kpendjal and Tandjouaré prefectures, respectively.

Equipment Received:

  • Pick-up cars
  • Motorcycles
  • VHF radios
  • Magnifying glasses
  • Computers

This equipment, essential for securing borders, is a donation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the support of Germany and the United States.

The initiatives are part of the projects "Strengthening Border Security and the Resilience of Border Communities in the Gulf of Guinea" and "Strengthening the Northern Borders of Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo." These projects aim to strengthen the operational, technical, and security capacities of Togo's border posts.

Minister Calixte Madjoulba emphasized the importance of the new logistical resources: "Thanks to this equipment, we will be equipped to accomplish this mission with greater efficiency and professionalism. Because security and safety, especially at the borders, are essential pillars for the stability and security of our nation."

Togo is thus demonstrating its commitment to strengthening national security and improving the resilience of border communities, while benefiting from international support to achieve these objectives.
