Togo promotes its organic products in Germany
A Togolese delegation will participate in the BIOFACH 2024 trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, from February 13 to 16. With 2,700 exhibitors and more than 46,000 visitors from 130 countries, this event is recognized as the world's largest trade fair dedicated to organic food and agriculture.
Togo, as the world's leading exporter of organic soybeans to the European Union, is positioning itself to promote its organic products at this event. This participation is part of the Program to Improve the Competitiveness of the Private Sector in Togo (ProComp), implemented with the support of GIZ.
The main objective of the Togolese delegation is to improve the competitiveness of the country's organic industry. Very small and medium-sized enterprises (VSEs) specializing in the organic sector will have the opportunity to establish business relationships with international partners through B2B meetings organized during the event.
A stand dedicated to the exhibition of Togolese organic products will also be set up, providing a showcase for Togolese entrepreneurs to present the quality and diversity of their organic products.
Between 2019 and 2020, Togo's organic agri-food exports to the European Union increased significantly, from 44,684 tonnes to 54,017 tonnes. This growth demonstrates the potential of the Togolese organic sector on the international stage and strengthens the country's position as a major contributor to the global organic market. Participation in the BIOFACH 2024 trade fair provides a strategic platform to consolidate these achievements and explore new opportunities in the global organic market.
