Togo/Plastic art: free artistic exchanges at the EKOUAGOU residence

Under the leadership of the Visual Artist Kokou Ekouagou, an exchange meeting is taking place this Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Lomé in the Agoè sogbossito district. The event brought together, in addition to the initiator, two (02) other dynamic Togolese artists, Djamiou Aboudou and Koffi Têtêvi.

This meeting allows the visual artists who take part to exchange on their artistic and cultural career but also to share a symbolic donation including (brushes of all sizes, a set of 120 ml gouache, pencils and erasers, a set of oil pastels, boxes of pigments) coming from Mrs. Christelle Akué, advisor and artistic manager of emerging artists and cultural enterprises. The goal is to support the efforts of mobilizing artists on site in order to promote their field of activity to enhance the value of their works and their rights.

As a reminder, Mrs. Christelle Akué lives in France and is also the founder and director of the CORI & ART association.

Kokou Ekouagou, who is also a Consultant and Cultural Manager, explains the basis of this exchange meeting: " It is to give even more oxygen to living together, to the sense of sharing, to what we do, the ambition we pursue and the direction we take and maintain. Here, we allow ourselves to question each other to be attentive to what drives us ."

For his part, Djamiou ABOUDOU, visual artist, sociologist and art critic, believes that " it is the sharing of ideas and visions that can propel the art sector and merge energy flows for a lasting positive impact on our populations. Art being the basis of all human invention, it is imperative to bring into the public's mentality the unavoidable aspect of artistic creation and its primacy over all other aspects of life. Our meeting this afternoon, therefore, results from our desire to pool our efforts to promote African art in general and Togolese art in particular, without forgetting to put more emphasis on introducing young people to this formidable tool for development ."

According to Koffi Têtêvi alias Koffi T, Art is at the center of our life so living together will allow us to be united to form an invincible armor.

In conclusion, when asked about his final impressions of this beautiful encounter, Kokou Ekouagou simply said: " Moment that passes, stop, you are so beautiful ."
