Togo: National campaign for free treatment of obstetric fistulas
A national campaign for free obstetric fistula treatment is currently underway, aimed at providing essential support to women affected by this condition. This initiative, implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), seeks to identify and treat cases of obstetric fistula across the country.
Registration for this campaign continues until August 31. Affected women are encouraged to visit regional health departments to register and receive free medical care. It is crucial that women affected by this condition come forward to access the necessary treatment.
Obstetric fistula is a lesion that usually occurs following difficult and prolonged childbirth. It manifests as an involuntary loss of urine and/or feces through the female genital tract, which can have serious consequences for the physical and mental health of affected women.
Women suffering from obstetric fistula often face social stigma, isolation, and mental health issues. Raising awareness about this condition is essential to combat stigma and encourage women to seek help.
This campaign is not limited to medical care alone, but also aims to raise public awareness about the causes and consequences of obstetric fistulas. It is important to promote access to adequate obstetric care to prevent the onset of this condition.
The free obstetric fistula treatment campaign represents an important opportunity for affected women to access medical care. Regional health departments are available to provide information and facilitate registration until August 31.
