Togo: Capacity building to anticipate climate change

Togo is committed to improving its climate change management capabilities through a training event that began on October 1 in Lomé. The three-day seminar aims to provide participants with tools and knowledge on collecting, using, and publishing climate data.

The stakeholders involved, from various structures, will be trained on the tools needed to establish a robust national system capable of effectively disseminating information on climate change. This initiative is part of the "Capacity Building for Enhanced Transparency (CTR)" project, supported by ECOWAS.

Aoufoh Koffi Dimizou, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment, highlighted the importance of this session: "It marks a key step in the establishment of the national climate data system, allowing our country to have reliable and up-to-date information to effectively guide decisions in the fight against climate change."

The National Meteorological Agency (ANAMET) plays a crucial role by regularly publishing climate bulletins and forecasts, which are essential for risk management and the implementation of adaptation strategies in the face of climate challenges.
