Ban on “Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix”: Togo takes action for public health

The Togolese government, through the Ministry of Trade, has decided to ban the importation, distribution, marketing and exhibition of the agri-food product called "Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix" . This measure follows a general recall issued by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) of Ghana, due to critical defects affecting the health and safety quality of this product.

Information gathered Tasty Tom product poses a serious risk to public health. Consequently, the Ministry has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all batches of this product from distribution channels and points of sale, in order to quarantine them. The main objective of this initiative is to protect the health of Togolese consumers.

To ensure the strict implementation of this measure, the ministerial department announced the strengthening of market surveillance missions by the competent services. This initiative aims to ensure that all provisions are respected and that the product is no longer available on the market.

Authorities also urge people to refrain from consuming "Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix" and to report any suspicious marketing practices. Citizens are encouraged to contact the toll-free number 8585 for any information or alerts regarding this product.
