Togo and Burkina Faso strengthen security at their common border

On Wednesday, April 12, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé received several officials from Burkina Faso's transitional government in Pya (Kara). The delegation, led by Colonel Boukaré Zoungrana, Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Security, was dispatched by Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

The discussions, in which the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly and the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic took part, focused on the security situation in the border areas shared by the two countries and the need for a coordinated fight.

Indeed, Togo and its northern neighbor have been victims of attacks by terrorist gangs for several months.

The Burkinabe delegation also conveyed the message of condolences and solidarity from the authorities of Faso to the Head of State and his family, bereaved by the death of the sister of the President of the Republic, Bawizibadi Yvonne Gnassingbé.

The funeral, which began on Monday in Lomé, ended on Wednesday in Pya.
