Togo aims to host the African regional headquarters of the Green Climate Fund

Togo has expressed its ambition to host the Africa regional headquarters of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), an international institution dedicated to financing actions against climate change. This intention was discussed during a working session last weekend between the Minister of Environment and Forest Resources, Foli-Bazi Katari, and a GCF delegation led by Catherine Koffman, Director of the Africa Department.

During this meeting, Minister Katari highlighted Togo's many assets that make the country an ideal candidate to host this seat. He highlighted the political stability , its climate of peace , as well as its strategic position as a logistics hub and center for major international meetings. These elements are crucial for attracting investment and fostering international cooperation in the fight against climate change.

This move to host the headquarters is part of the GCF's reforms, which aim to regionalize its activities to better support African countries in their climate projects. The GCF, which plays a crucial role in financing sustainable development initiatives, aims to strengthen its impact on the continent.
