Political parties could have a new charter
Togolese political parties may soon have a new, updated charter adapted to current realities. On Wednesday, at the Council of Ministers, the government adopted a preliminary draft law amending the previous text, which is more than 30 years old.
This overhaul, which is also one of the proposals of the consultation of political actors (CNAP), proposes progress on points linked to the founding members of political parties, and other requirements linked in particular to their operation (headquarters, address, regularity of activities, and accountability in financial management), among others.
There are currently more than 100 political parties in Togo.
