New progress in logistics cooperation between Togo and hinterland countries

Logistics cooperation between Togo and landlocked hinterland countries could receive a significant boost. A delegation of directors general from the shippers' councils of these nations recently conducted an exploratory mission to the Adetikopé Industrial Platform (PIA), a visit aimed at discovering the opportunities offered by this infrastructure to facilitate container transfers and evacuations, as well as to strengthen regional cooperation ties.

During this mission, discussions between the delegation and the Platform Coordination Authority (PCA) focused primarily on the logistical challenges faced by landlocked countries and the innovative solutions proposed by the PIA to improve the efficiency of transport operations. Key infrastructure visited by the Sahelian road officials included warehouses, the dry port, and the textile factory, all located on the PIA site.

Idiola Sandah, ACP Administrator-General, welcomed this fruitful day which, according to him, “strengthened regional cooperation and opened new perspectives for intra-regional trade.” Indeed, this visit marks an important step in the development of economic and logistical relations between Togo and its hinterland neighbors.

The PIA, with its modern and strategically located facilities, positions itself as a key player in facilitating the transit of goods from countries without direct access to the sea. By offering suitable logistics solutions, such as dry ports and storage warehouses, the platform aims to reduce transport costs and times, while improving the fluidity of trade in the region.

This visit by the Sahelian delegation to the PIA demonstrates the commitment of the hinterland countries to work closely with Togo to overcome logistical challenges and promote deeper regional economic integration. Through these joint efforts, Togo aspires to become an essential logistics hub for its landlocked neighbors, thereby boosting economic development throughout the sub-region.
