Mayors in Togo: elections from October 15 to 17

The election of mayors and deputies in Togo will begin on October 15 and continue until October 17. This process involves all 117 municipalities in the country and marks the completion of the cycle of renewal of local executive bodies, which began several months earlier.

Municipal councilors will be called upon to elect mayors and their deputies from among their number, in accordance with current regulations. These new officials will be tasked with continuing efforts in local governance and community development.

Since 2019, Togo has been implementing a decentralization policy aimed at strengthening local governance. This dynamic aims to provide municipalities with the resources needed to respond more effectively to the needs of their populations. This process also contributes to the consolidation of participatory democracy and the balanced development of the national territory.

As a reminder, during the municipal elections of July 17, 1,527 municipal councilors were elected, thus preparing the ground for these next elections.
