Lomé is embarking on a new dynamic of urban management
The Autonomous District of Greater Lomé (DAGL) has embarked on a new initiative aimed at better regulating urbanization and protecting the administrative reserves of the Togolese capital. A study was launched on Tuesday, May 27, to propose concrete solutions to the challenges posed by unplanned urbanization.
This four-month operation aims to identify anomalies related to illegal occupations, analyze their causes and consequences, particularly on state land reserves, and formulate appropriate action measures. According to Bossa Makagni-Amelété, Director of Strategic Planning and Urban Development, this study is a continuation of the operation to inventory state land reserves, launched last year.
In recent years, the Togolese government has stepped up efforts to strengthen urban governance and improve the living environment in the country's cities. A process of developing master development plans is currently underway in several localities.
