Launch of the 6th edition of the month of local consumption in Togo
October 1st marked the beginning of the 6th edition of the “Month of Local Consumption,” an initiative officially launched by the government on October 9th during a ceremony in Lomé. This campaign aims to promote local products and services under the theme: “Skills and innovations for the competitiveness of local products.”
The main objective of this initiative is to involve all stakeholders in the value chain, from production to processing and marketing. This is part of a socio-economic development dynamic focused on the consumption of goods and services "Made in Togo."
Mensah Koffi Vinyo, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Trade, stressed the importance of developing the country's productive potential, particularly in the fields of agri-food, arts, crafts, textiles, cosmetics and innovation services.
Abdoulaye Diop, resident representative of UEMOA, also highlighted the importance of this annual event, which provides a framework for reflection and action for economic development and the structural transformation of the economies of member states.
Established in 2019 by the UEMOA, the “Month of Local Consumption” aims to encourage the processing of primary products and to redress the trade balance of member states by reducing imports.
