Land census launched in the communes of Agoè-Nyivé 1 and 2

Since May 22, Togo has officially launched a land information collection campaign. This initiative is led by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR) and involves, as part of a pilot phase, the municipalities of Agoè-Nyivé 1 and 2.

The main objective of this operation is to prevent land disputes, which represented nearly 70% of cases pending before the courts in 2022. To achieve this objective, it is essential to secure land ownership and update the cadastral file, which is 16 years old.

Over a period of two to three months, teams of investigators will visit each municipality in the two prefectures to collect various information and georeference land titles.

The ultimate goal of this initiative, explains the tax authority, is to update all cadastral information prior to 2007 in order to promote better urban development.
