Investing in women: a joint initiative of IFD, AMD and Development Without Borders
On March 8, 2024, a total of fifty women gathered at the headquarters of the NGO Initiative Féminine pour le Développement (IFD) to celebrate International Women's Day under the inspiring theme " Investing in women, accelerating the pace ." This joint initiative by IFD, the Association Mains du Développement (AMD), and Développement sans Frontières created a space for exchange and mobilization to promote the economic empowerment of women.
The event began with a welcoming address from Ms. Claire YOVO, lead facilitator of IFD women's groups. In her speech, she outlined the purpose of the meeting and briefly reviewed the themes of previous training sessions organized for these women. She also retraced the origins of International Women's Day.

For her part, Ms. Totine Kolani, Director of the NGO IFD and representative of the Executive Director of DSF, took the floor to discuss the day's theme. She emphasized the importance of women's economic empowerment as the key to breaking the chains of gender inequality. She encouraged every woman to strive for financial independence, stating that this was the path to equality and the end of persistent inequalities.
As for the coordinator of the Mains du Développement (AMD) Association, Ms. NABROULABA Tem, she reminded the women present that access to certain rights, such as the right to vote or to credit, is the result of the struggles waged by previous generations of women. She emphasized the responsibility of the current generation to continue these efforts to ensure complete equality between men and women in the country. She concluded by inviting every woman to get involved in her neighborhood development committee to contribute to the progress of her community.
The session concluded with a lively debate, where participants had the opportunity to share their ideas and experiences.
This initiative is the work of three committed organizations: IFD, AMD, and Développement sans Frontières. By joining forces, these NGOs have created a space conducive to women's empowerment and the promotion of gender equality. This is an important step towards a future where every woman can flourish without hindrance.
