Humanitarian assistance for the populations of the Savannahs in Togo
In Togo, the populations of the Savanes region, affected by the consequences of the spillover of the Sahel crisis, continue to benefit from the government's attention. The Minister in charge of social action, Kossiwa Zinsou-Klassou , recently launched assistance operations for the year 2025 intended for displaced persons.
With a total cost of 140 million CFA francs , this new phase of assistance aims to support 2,400 households spread across the region's seven prefectures. Beneficiaries will receive food , as well as basic necessities and hygiene products , to meet their immediate needs. This initiative is part of the Emergency Program for the Savannah Region (PURS) .
"The government will always remain sensitive to the pain of women, children and men facing this difficult situation of the spillover of the Sahel crisis," declared Minister Zinsou-Klassou.
As a reminder, the PURS, deployed for three years by the government, aims to strengthen the resilience of populations in the northern region of the country, who are facing increasing security threats. This humanitarian assistance demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting the most vulnerable and mitigating the impact of the crisis on local communities.
