Final stretch of the election campaign: reminder on prior declarations

The municipal election campaign, which launched on Tuesday, July 1, is entering its final phase. Political parties and independent candidates are intensifying their activities with rallies and other events. However, some candidates appear to be ignoring the requirement to file a prior declaration with the prefectures.

In a statement issued on July 10, the president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Dago Yabre , reiterated the importance of respecting established procedures. According to him, declarations of electoral meetings must be submitted to prefects at least 24 hours in advance, in writing and during administrative opening hours. These declarations allow prefects and the presidents of the Independent Local Electoral Commissions (CELI) to plan electoral events and ensure the security of the premises.

This reminder aims to ensure the smooth running of the elections and avoid any inconvenience that could arise due to non-compliance with the regulations in force. The CENI insists on the need to follow these procedures to ensure a climate of security and order during this crucial period.

Candidates are therefore invited to comply with these requirements in order to contribute to a peaceful and well-organized election.
