Ekouagou Workshop: A New Deal for the Children of the Kové Neighborhood

Founded by Kokou Ekouagou, an ultra-contemporary artist according to Artfacts.net, “Atelier Ekouagou” recently kept all its promises by organizing creative workshops for children from June 4 to June 15, 2024. This event offered a unique and enriching experience to the young participants, creating a friendly and stimulating atmosphere.

During this period, the Atelier Ekouagou – School of Visual Arts welcomed children eager to explore their creativity. The enthusiasm was such that the children were quickly joined by their friends and many curious onlookers. The open days allowed young people and adults to discover the educational impact and moral satisfaction that this artistic activity provides.

The Ekouagou Workshop is a space dedicated to artistic experimentation where different visual practices, techniques, and materials come together. This space encourages the development of collective and individual projects, guided by themes or artistic constraints. The workshops are designed to introduce each individual to a unique creative process.

Atelier Ekouagou is deeply committed to its social mission through the "Azonli Yéyé" program, meaning "New Deal." This program aims to offer a new opportunity to disadvantaged children and youth by teaching them artistic skills and techniques.

To meet growing demand, Atelier Ekouagou is planning to build an arts center to expand its capacity and strengthen its logistics. This project is supported by the National Fund for Cultural Promotion (FNPC) in Togo. The goal is to provide these young people with opportunities in drawing and visual arts, restoring their dignity and hope, and helping them escape poverty through the income generated by their artistic activities.

The Alpha B Togo Association, based in Ségbé, provided support to Atelier Ekouagou. Under the leadership of Mr. Joseph Yawovi Atiogbé, the association's founding president, around fifteen children visited the workshop, sharing moments of discovery and learning.

As an independent space for research and artistic experiences, Atelier Ekouagou continues to play a vital role in the artistic and social education of children in the Kové neighborhood. By providing opportunities and supporting emerging talent, it contributes significantly to the growth of culture in Togo.
