Crafts and digital technology in Togo

Togo is celebrating its fifth annual Crafts Days from October 15 to 24. This year's theme is "Digital Technology for Promoting Crafts: Issues and Challenges."

During this period, artisans, digital professionals, and industry partners will gather to share experiences, discover new technologies, and explore innovative solutions to boost local crafts. The focus is on the digital transition, particularly with the dematerialization of registrations and exams for the Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship (CFA).

Mouhamed Issa, President of the Union of Regional Chambers of Trades (UCRM) of Togo, highlighted the importance of this theme: " This theme challenges us, artisans, on the need to adapt to the changes in the modern world."

The program includes workshops, regional mini-fairs, and community events that will allow participants to familiarize themselves with digital tools and discover innovative solutions for promoting their products. Artisans will also have the opportunity to receive practical training on creating online stores, promoting themselves through social media, and digitally managing their businesses.

As a reminder, crafts in Togo include more than 165 occupations classified into three groups: production and processing crafts, service crafts, and artistic crafts. This initiative aims to strengthen the sector and encourage the integration of new technologies into craft practices.
