Celebration of D'pontre N'nidak: a surge of pride and unity in Grand Bassar

The people of Greater Bassar vibrated to the rhythm of their rich culture during the apotheosis of the traditional D'pontre N'nidak festival, celebrated for the 61st time. This emblematic event was held in the presence of several officials, including the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Resources, and the Regulation of Transhumance, Yark Damehame, who represented the President of the Council.

This edition was held under the theme of “inclusive development of the Bassar and Konkomba peoples” , highlighting the importance of this festival as a symbol of unity and cultural identity between these two brotherly peoples. The celebration was also an opportunity to pay tribute to God, the deities and the ancestors for the harvests obtained, while offering a moment of reflection on the past year and preparation for the coming season.

"The D'pontre N'nidak festival illustrates not only your commitment to traditions, but also your exceptional agricultural know-how. It is essential to promote this culture, not only to honor our ancestors, but also to make it a lever for economic development for the greater Bassar region," the Minister of State declared during his speech.

The apotheosis of the festival was marked by folk dances, artistic performances and the tasting of dishes prepared with the new yam, highlighting the gastronomic richness of the region.
