2025-2026 School Year in Togo: A Calm and Promising Resumption
The Togolese educational community marked the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year this Monday, September 15, with a smooth and effective resumption of classes across the country. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dodzi Komla Kokoroko, toured Greater Lomé to assess the smooth running of the new school year.
During his visit, the Minister expressed his gratitude to all educational stakeholders and reaffirmed the government's commitment to continuing ongoing reforms. "There is no school without stakeholders, including the President of the Council, whom we wish to thank and congratulate for his renewed commitment to the educational condition. I would like to thank the parents, technical and financial partners, the teaching and management staff, as well as the promoters and directors of private, secular and religious institutions, for the quality of the work accomplished," said Kokoroko.
The minister emphasized that the Republic's education system is undergoing a transformation thanks to reforms that reflect society's aspirations. "There are strengths, weaknesses, and prospects that will truly enable us to have a quality school," he added, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders in the education system.
On the occasion of this new school year, the President of the Council, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, also sent his greetings to the students. “Togo relies, every day, on its most precious asset: its children. As we begin this new school year, I wish all our children fulfillment and courage for the 2025-2026 academic year. May this new stage be marked by discipline, excellence, and self-improvement,” he declared.
The President reaffirmed the collective commitment to work alongside stakeholders in the education system to ensure that every Togolese child has equitable access to quality knowledge, in a safe, inclusive and hopeful environment.
As a reminder, this school year concerns approximately three million students, ranging from kindergarten to high school, across all levels of education. This school year promises to be rich in challenges and opportunities for the Togolese education system.
