Agricultural boost in Togo: new partnership for mechanization
To support Togolese agricultural entrepreneurs, the Ministry of Agriculture today signed a partnership agreement with Bank of Africa (BOA-Togo) and Sunu Bank. This initiative aims to facilitate farmers' access to favorable credit for the acquisition of modern agricultural machinery.
Under this partnership, BOA-Togo will establish a specific leasing line for the purchase of agricultural equipment, initially comprising 50 tractors and accessories for a repayment period spread over 5 years. Sunu Bank will provide the commercial guarantee for the equipment, thus strengthening the security of transactions.
This collaboration also includes a training component designed to familiarize farmers with the use and maintenance of the equipment, thus ensuring its durability and efficiency.
Antoine Lekpa Gbegbeni, Minister of Agriculture, emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening technical support for agricultural stakeholders to build solid and viable files, as well as to improve financial education.
Togo is thus pursuing its ambition to improve agricultural productivity through mechanization, notably with the ongoing construction of six regional agricultural mechanization centers across the country.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at modernizing the Togolese agricultural sector and strengthening the autonomy of farmers by providing them with the tools necessary to increase their yields and efficiency.
