FOPAT: Faure Gnassingbé reiterates his commitment to producers in Tsévié

A few days after Dapaong, the President of the Republic, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, chaired the apotheosis of the Forum of Togolese Agricultural Producers of the Maritime Region on Saturday, January 28. The activity, organized in Tsévié, the capital of the region, brought together members of the government, technical and financial partners (FAO, World Bank, AFD and GIZ), as well as local and traditional authorities.

Facing producers from the eight prefectures of the Maritime (Agoè, Avé, Bas-Mono, Golfe, Lacs, Vo, Yoto and Zio), Faure Gnassingbé once again detailed and explained his ambition and vision for the sector: “ a productive agriculture, with high added value, a driver of growth and wealth creation for farmers ”. All this, in accordance with the five-year roadmap of the executive.

We must strengthen food security, work towards food sovereignty and enable our brave farmers to make a decent living from their work ,” insisted the head of state.

As in the Savannahs, the Togolese leader reiterated his commitment to supporting farmers and urged them to achieve better results.

" I am confident in our ability to achieve a balanced agricultural trade balance and thus make rapid progress by leveraging the strengths of our economy ," he said.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the President of the Republic received the various constituted bodies of the region, for discussions relating to national life, the Togo 2025 Roadmap and the regional security context.

As a reminder, FOPAT, which focuses on the structural transformation of Togolese agriculture, is a presidential initiative. The objective is to create a framework for exchanges, listening, and sharing experiences for inclusive management of the sector.
